FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — Did you know that some of the nation’s top cyber security protection is based right here in north central West Virginia?

Agile5 Technologies is a Fairmont-grown IT services company that has developed software taking the world of cybersecurity by storm.

The Automated Compliance Engine (ACE™) ensures that cloud services are in continuous compliance by automating the required system checks in just 10 minutes.

12 News spoke with Chief Information Security Officer of Agile5 Technologies, Jacob Brozenick, about having these services in an area like Fairmont.

“Some of the systems are so integral to some of the country’s defense and operations day and day work actually exists here in your state, and they’re managed, maintained, and operated by the citizens that live here, and I think that’s something to be prideful of,” Brozenick said.

12 News also spoke with Agile5 Co-Founder and Chief Tech Officer Chet Tobrey on utilizing locals within the company.

“The talent is here, you know, and it’s really rewarding to help grow and nurture and benefit from the high-quality staff we have locally,” Tobrey said.

Since its creation, ACE has been adopted by Department of Defense and Department of Justice entities, including the FBI CJIS Division in Clarksburg.

Agile5 was also awarded the SBA’s 2024 West Virginia Small Business of the Year honor for its efforts in helping the community and beyond.

As for the future, through its own success, Agile5 is ensuring that young minds in Appalachia receive the guidance and opportunity available through internships.

“I’ve lived in this state for over 25 years now, and I’ve really grown to love it here and the opportunities that we have here. I think that we’ve been able to really grasp on those because we’re pretty close to universities like WVU, and Fairmont and Glenville, and we’ve really tapped into these resources to try to find local people who want to get into this field, who want to get into technology, and we nurture that. So we have an innovation lab, we have an internship program every summer, and it becomes more successful every year,” said Brozenick.
